The Dell Quick Start project in Mississauga is a repurposing of a former plastics manufacturing facility. The interior of the building was completely demolished and then rebuilt as a state-of-the-art data centre.

Mechanical Systems

Among other mechanical duties, Kelson was responsible for the fabrication and installation of a glycol cooling system to service the large Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) units that keep the servers and mainframe computers within operating temperatures. The mechanical scope included the following:

  • Install HVAC system for the building, including three separate air-handling units
  • Fit out the mechanical room, installing two 185-ton water chillers and one 180-ton dry cooler
  • Provide all piping required for the various mechanical components of the building
